Volunteer Intake Process

Lifewise accepts volunteer applications year-round; however, volunteer interviews, screening, and orientation sessions are conducted during scheduled intake periods throughout the year. Once your application is received, it will be held until the next intake period, at which time a member of our team will contact you regarding next steps.

Volunteer applications are currently being accepted for our Fall 2026 intake. Applicants can expect to be contacted regarding interviews and orientation in September/October 2026.

How to Get Started

Complete and submit the volunteer application form below.

Informal interview

Applications are reviewed during scheduled volunteer intake periods. During the next intake cycle, a member of our team will contact applicants to schedule an informal interview.

Reference check

Following the interview, we will request two character references, along with a Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RNC (or the RCMP if you are not located in St. John’s or Corner Brook).

If you have not obtained one within the last six months, Lifewise can provide a letter to waive applicable fees.

Orientation session

Once the screening process is complete, participate in a scheduled Volunteer Orientation Session to learn about Lifewise, our services, the need for volunteers, and what your volunteer role will look like.

Begin volunteering

Once all previous steps have been successfully completed, you can begin volunteering and supporting the Lifewise community. Volunteer opportunities are communicated throughout the year based on organizational needs and volunteer interests.
